Auf dem letzten Einsatz des alten Feuerschiffs birgt die Besatzung drei Männer aus einem manövrierunfähig im Meer treibenden Boot. Eine ruhige Wache hatte sich Kapitän Freytag zum Ende seiner Dienstzeit gewünscht. Als sich herausstellt, dass die Schiffbrüchigen wegen eines bewaffneten Raubüberfalls gesucht werden, ist die Ruhe dahin. Mit aller Gewalt wollen die Gangster außer Landes flüchten. Die Situation eskaliert zu einem Spiel auf Leben und Tod, als sie drohen, zur Not mit dem Feuerschiff überzusetzen. Kapitän Freytag ist kein Freund heldenmütiger Alleingänge. Um das Schiff und die Mannschaft zu beschützen, kooperiert er mit den Verbrechern, damit sie so schnell wie möglich wieder von Bord können. Freytags Männer haben jedoch andere Pläne: Sie wollen die Gangster auf eigene Faust festsetzen und der Polizei übergeben. Allen voran Fred, der heißblütige Sohn des Kapitäns. Caspary, der scharfsinnige Anführer der Verbrecherbande, spielt die Besatzung und ihren Kapitän kaltblütig gegeneinander aus. Denn Freytag will ein Blutvergießen um jeden Preis verhindern.
The Lightship
During the old lightship’s last shift the crew rescues three men from a boat drifting in the sea. Captain Freytag had wished for a quiet post at the end of his service. When they find out that the shipwrecked are on the run for armed robbery, calm and ease are gone. The gangsters are destined to flee the country. The situation escalates to a game of life and death, when they threaten to use the lightship for their undertaking. Captain Freytag is not a hero. To protect the boat and his crew he cooperates with the criminals for them to be able to leave the ship as soon as possible. However, his men, and in particular his passionate son Fred, have different plans. On their own initiative they prepare to arrest the criminals and hand them over to the police. Cold-bloodedly, Caspary, the genius head of the criminal trio, plays the captain off against his crew. Freytag will do anything to prevent bloodshed.

Gjatë aksionit të fundit të anijes, anëtarët e ekuipazhit i shpëtojnë tre meshkuj nga një barkë e prishur, që po lundronte në detë. Kapiteni Frajtag e kishte dëshiruar një ditë të qetë, para se të përfundonte detyrën e tij. Por, kur ekuipazhi kupton që të shpëtuarit janë të kërkuar për shkak një vjedhje të rëndë, prishet qetësia. Tokom poslednje akcije broda svetionika članovi posade spašavaju tri muškarca sa pokvarene barke koja je plovila po moru. Kapetan Frajtag je želeo da provede miran dan pre nego što završi službu. Ali, kada ekipa shvati da su spašeni muškarci u stvari traženi zbog teške pljačke, njegov mir se kvari. Zločinci žele da nasilno pobegnu iz zemlje. Kada oni zaprete da će čamac upotrebiti za svoje planove, situacija eskalira u igru o životu ili smrti. Kapetan Frajtag nije heroj. On sarađuje sa zločincima kako bi spasio ekipu i čamac i kako bi što brže izašli iz čamca. Frajtagova posada i njegov revnostan sin Fredi imaju drugačije planove: oni žele da uhapse zločince i predaju ih policiji. Kaspar, glava trojke zločinaca nagovara posadu da se okrene protiv kapetana, dok Frajtag pokušava da na svaki način spreči krvoproliće.

Director's Biography
Florian Gärtner, born in 1968, is a Super-8 autodidact and shot his first films in school. From 1988-91 he participated at the ‚Werkstatt für Junge Filmer‘, with the Super-8-Epos „Zeichen und Wunder“. Gärtner is the co-founder of the English theatre group ‘Berliner Grundtheater’ and he participated in more than 20 plays. He did three films for the ‚ZDF/Kleines Fernsehspiel‘: „Außerirdische“ (1992), „Niemand außer mir“ (1995) und „Drachenland“ (1999). He then wrote and directed „Mensch Mutter“ (2004), the two Teen-Comedies: „Sex Up – Jungs haben’s auch nicht leicht“ (2003) and the sequel „Sex Up – ich könnt schon wieder“ (2005) and “Das zweite Leben” (2007). Apart from these TV productions he also writes cinema film scripts (e.g. "Morgen ihr Luschen! Der Ausbilder-Schmidt-Film). Gärtner lives in Berlin and is a freelance scriptwriter and director.
