Ein Sommer in Berlin. In einem alten Mietshaus wohnen die Freundinnen Katrin und Nike. Nike hat einen Balkon, Katrin hat einen Sohn, Ronald fährt einen Truck, Tina ist Kellnerin, Oskar und Helene sind alt und alleine. Ob mitten im Leben oder fast am Ende, sie alle fragen sich das Gleiche: Dauert die Liebe über die Jahreszeiten. Oder ist sie nur ein Botenstoff im Hirn, der kommt und geht? Es wird gelebt und geliebt, und es ist immer noch Sommer in Berlin. Sommer vorm Balkon ist die Geschichte zweier Freundinnen, die von ihrem Balkon zwischen Himmel und Erde auf ihre turbulenten und unterschiedlichen Universen schauen, in denen die richtigen Männer allzu häufig die falschen sind und hübsche Frauen stark sein müssen.

At the beginning, middle or end of their lives – they all ask the same question: Can love last through the seasons? Or is it something affecting the brain that just comes and goes? The live and love and it is still summer in Berlin. Summer in Berlin is the story of two girlfriends, who, from their balcony - between heaven and earth - gaze down at their turbulent and difficult universe, where the right men are all too often exactly wrong, and to get ahead even a good-looking woman had better be strong.

Leto na terasi
Leto u Berlinu. U jednoj iznajmljenoj kući žive prijateljice Katrin i Nike. Nike ima jednu terasu, Katrin ima jednog sina, Ronald vozi kamion, Tina je konobarica, Oskar i Helena su stari i sami. Na početku, polovini ili pri kraju svog života, svi oni sebi postavljaju jedno isto pitanje: Da li ljubav može ta istraje kroz sva godišnja doba? Ili je to nešto što s vremena na vreme samo zadirkuje mozak? Oni žive i vole, i u Berlinu je još uvek leto.
Leto na terasi je priča o dve prijateljice, koje sa njihove terase – između neba i zemlje – gledaju na njihov turbulentan i težak svet, u kojem su pravi muškarci isuviše često pogrešni i u kojem čak i lepa žena mora da bude jaka.

Andreas Dresen
Andreas Dresen was born 1963 in Gera. His father was a theater director and his mother an actress. Dresen started shooting amateur films in 1979. From1984 until 1985 he worked as a sound technician at the Schwerin Theater. After editorial training at DEFA Studio for feature films and director’s assistance for Günter Reisch, he then studied directing at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen „Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam. Apart from his film and TV works he stage-manages theater works. He is also member of the Academy of Arts of Berlin/Brandenburg. His first success as director was with ‚Nachtgestalten‘ (1998), for which he inter alia was awarded the best young director. ‘Halbe Treppe’ (Grill Point) won inter alia the silver bear at the Berlin Festival. For his several documentaries and feature films (Stilles Land, Halbe Treppe, Die Polizistin, Sommer vorm Balkon), he won several national and international prices. He just released his newest film ‘Wolke 9’ (Cloud Nine) in Germany.
