Der Kick


In der Nacht zum 13. Juli 2002 mißhandelten und ermordeten die Brüder Marco und Marcel Schönfeld und ihr Bekannter Sebastian Fink den 16-jährigen Marinus Schöberl. Auf der Grundlage ausführlicher Recherchen hat der Dokumenarist Andres Veiel ein Bühnenstück über den Fall in der Uckermark geschrieben; die Verfilmung beruht auf dem gleichnamigen Stück.


The Kick
In the night of 13 July 2000 brothers Marco and Marcel Schönfeld, together with their friend Sebastian Fink, violently attacked and killed 16-year-old Marinus Schöberl. Documentary film maker Andres Veiel carried out extensive research for the play he wrote about the case which took place in Uckermark, a district not far from Berlin. The film is based on and takes its name from the play.

Në natën e 13 korrikut 2002 vëllezërit Marko dhe Marsel Shenfeld së bashku me shokun e tyre Sebastian Finkun e keqpërdorin dhe e vrasin 16-vjeçarin Marinus Shoberltin. Artisti i filmave dokumentar Andres Veiel ka shkruar një pjesë teatrale rreth ngjarjes në Ukermark, duke u bazuar në hulumtime të hollësishme. Filmi është bazuar në dramën e tij që mban të njejtin emër.

U noć 13. jula 2002. braća Marko i Marsel Šenfeld sa njihovim prijateljem Sebastijanom Finkom zlostavljaju i ubiju 16-godišnjeg Marinusa Šoberla. Autor dokumentarnih filmova Andres Veiel je napisao pozorišnu predstavu o događaju u Ukermarku, na osnovu detaljne istrage. Film se zasniva na njegovoj istoimenoj drami. 


Director’s Biography: Andres Veiel

Born in Stuttgart in 1959, Veiel studied psychology from 1982 to 1998 in Berlin but upon graduation decided not to work in this profession. He had attended seminars in directing at the arts centre ‘Künstlerhaus Bethanien.’ One of his seminar tutors was Krzysztof Kieslowski. His production with prisoners of the prison psychiatry in Berlin focusing on the violence in this institution was called off. He has been working as screenwriter and director of feature films and documentaries as well as playwright and director for the Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin and the Theatre Basel (“Der Kick”, 2005). Since 1996 he has been teaching at the dffb Berlin, the HFF Potsdam Babelsberg, the Universities of Berlin and Zurich, in Johannesburg, Cairo, Tunis, New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Veiel is member of both the German and the European Film Academy. His film Balagan (1993) caused a sensation and received numerous awards. His two subsequent documentaries “Die Überlebenden” (1996; Adolf Grimme Award) and “Black Box BRD” (2001; European Film Award for Best Documentary, among others) have been similarly successful. His long-term observational documentary “Die Spielwütigen – Addicted to Acting” (1996-2003) was premiered at the International Film Festival Berlin in 2004 (Audience Award) and nominated as Best Documentary by the European Film Academy and won many other awards. The film “Der Kick” based on the theatre play of the same name; both the play and the film won several awards such as Friedrich-Luft-Award for Best Theatre Production Berlin 2006 and Grand Prix Visions du Reel, Nyon.
